The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Barnes gets tackled into the cage by Evans. Evans maintains the clinch.

Evans pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Evans turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Evans tries to clinch up.
Evans connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Evans looking to score a takedown here. Barnes is defending well but Evans drives through and ends up in Barnes's guard.
Evans trying to control but Barnes is working from the bottom.
Barnes trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Barnes controls Evans momentarily but Evans frees himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Barnes working a defensive guard but Evans passes into half guard.
Evans tries to pass to full mount but Barnes defends it.

Evans is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Evans looking to sit in guard and control but Barnes gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Evans wants to sweep but no luck.

Evans is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Barnes is aware though and is defending well.
Barnes prevents Evans from getting back to his feet.
Evans is trying to control the position but Barnes postures up.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Evans tries to clinch but Barnes is having none of it.
Barnes seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Barnes circles away from the clinch attempt.

Evans tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Barnes decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Evans's guard.
Evans is looking to stand up but Barnes isn't so interested in that idea.
Evans wants to improve his position but instead Barnes has moved into half guard.
Evans wants to sweep but Barnes has passed to side control!

Evans is trying to get back to half guard.
Barnes trying to control the action but Evans is working from the bottom.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Barnes cracks Evans with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Evans tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Scot Barnes will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Evans swings for the body but Barnes moves out of range.
Barnes is looking to counter the offense by Evans and move into the clinch.
Barnes fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Barnes doesn't manage to clinch there - Evans circles away.

Evans gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

Barnes will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Evans is fighting to break Barnes's control of his arms but Barnes is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Barnes has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Evans should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Barnes has tightened it up now! Evans should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
