PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Felman Einar (ranked 6090 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Jims (ranked 7269 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Joe Jims was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Felman Einar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Joe Jims!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Steve Smith and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Einar throws a leg kick but Jims sees it coming and moves out of range.
Nice defenses there by Einar.
Jims doesn't manage to clinch there - Einar circles away.

Jims throws a jab but it's blocked by Einar.
Jims misses with a lunging right hand

and Einar counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Einar is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Einar is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Einar won't allow Jims to sweep him here.

Jims should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Einar stands up over Jims, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Einar is putting a hurting on Jims here, landing some big shots from side control.
Jims tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Einar wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Einar tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Einar connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Jims some visible discomfort.

Einar tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Einar has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Jims manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Jims seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Einar does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Einar wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Jims is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Einar is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Einar has escaped and now he's on top!

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Jims tries to clinch there but Einar circles away.

Einar feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Einar not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jims wants to improve his position but instead Einar has moved into half guard.
Einar is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Jims is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Einar's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Einar's back!

Jims is trying to hold Einar in close to prevent damage but Einar has managed to pass into half guard.
Einar is sitting in half guard. He's postured up and lands a nice elbow. Oh, Jims is hurt! He's hurt bad - Einar fires away with more strikes and the referee jumps in to save Jims from any more punishment! Congratulations to Einar! Great finish!
