Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Yoki Mayoniko (ranked 1645 p4p, 211 weight class) and Lars Kenardly (ranked 4399 p4p, 434 weight class). Kenardly has chosen Strokin as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

and Mayoniko counters with a low kick, right behind Kenardly 's knee.
We've been told by Mayoniko's head coaches at The Takeover that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Mayoniko changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Lars Kenardly seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

This has been an exciting period of action!

and Mayoniko counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Mayoniko.
A head punch on the inside from Mayoniko fails to land.
Kenardly slowing the pace effectively.
Mayoniko digs a right hand into Kenardly's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Kenardly's gas tank.

and Mayoniko counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

A little jabbing left from Kenardly on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Mayoniko takes a swing at Kenardly's ribcage but misses.
Mayoniko doesn't manage to clinch there - Kenardly circles away.

Kenardly throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Kenardly tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Mayoniko avoids it.

Mayoniko throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Yoki Mayoniko will probably get the nod.

Mayoniko has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.

Mayoniko steps into range and unloads a brutal right left combo! Kenardly is out on his feet! Mayoniko sets himself and nearly takes Kenardly's head off with a straight right, sending him crashing to the mat! Wow, that was nasty... but awesome! Wooo!
