Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Miguel Chavez (ranked 24753 p4p, 0 weight class) and Xavier Goyo (ranked 3789 p4p, 0 weight class). Miguel Chavez has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Miguel Chavez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Xavier Goyo!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Aafke Stam and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Goyo looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Goyo works his way into side control.
Goyo prevents Chavez from escaping the position.

Goyo working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Chavez manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Goyo wants to work for an arm triangle but Chavez is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Chavez is looking for a sweep. Goyo is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Chavez makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Chavez.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Goyo thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Goyo is working Chavez over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Chavez manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Goyo manages to get himself to full guard.

Chavez engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Chavez distracts Goyo with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Goyo wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Chavez postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Chavez is working Goyo over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Chavez controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Chavez stands up and waves to Goyo to follow him.
Chavez could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Chavez instigates a clinch.

Chavez is trying to trip Goyo. He has hold of a leg but Goyo is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Chavez persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Goyo is wriggling around but Chavez manages to pass to half guard.


Chavez looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Chavez controlling the action here.
Goyo keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Goyo wants to improve his position but Chavez is controlling well.
Chavez takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Chavez decides to stand up.
Goyo looks winded!

Goyo gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Chavez has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Goyo after a bit of a struggle.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Goyo has Chavez pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Goyo pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Chavez tumbling to the mat - Goyo dives into Chavez's guard.
Chavez bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Goyo's guard.

Goyo is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Chavez's half guard.

Goyo is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Chavez tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Chavez moves into full guard.
Goyo works over Chavez with some ground and pound from guard.

Chavez utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Chavez looking to hit a scissor sweep but Goyo is one step ahead there.
Chavez is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Chavez has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Chavez seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Goyo is breathing heavily.

Chavez stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Goyo to get to his feet.

Goyo lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Chavez is trying to maintain the position but Goyo is very close to passing his half guard.
Chavez looks like he's trying to stand up.

Chavez is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Goyo lands a nice short elbow.
Chavez is pressing down on Goyo's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Chavez is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Chavez connects with a nice short shot to Goyo's temple.
Chavez seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Chavez in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Goyo tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Chavez!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Miguel Chavez!
