Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Andrew Workman (ranked 6955 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sean Stanley (ranked 6067 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Andrew Workman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Sean Stanley!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Chris Edwards and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stanley tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Workman could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Workman shoots in for a takedown but Stanley shows good takedown defense.
Stanley is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.

Workman gets the takedown into side control.
Workman controls the position from side control.
Stanley can't do much from the bottom here.
Workman in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Workman's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Stanley tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Workman wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Workman is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Stanley will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Stanley is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Stanley is looking for a sweep.
Workman scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Stanley to see if he's OK.
Workman in side control, just content to control the action for now.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Stanley tries to improve position but can't.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Stanley tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Workman swivels and escapes.

Stanley is bucking up trying to escape but Workman cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Stanley fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Workman, pushing him back against the cage.

Workman stops a takedown attempt from Stanley.
Stanley has Workman pressed against the cage, preventing Workman from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Workman breaks from the clinch.
Workman pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Workman tries to close the distance and clinch but Stanley swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Stanley scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Stanley shoots in but no luck this time.
Workman throws a big counter combination but Stanley scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Andrew Workman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sean Stanley.

Stanley closes this distance looking for a takedown but Workman circles away.
Stanley is breathing heavily.
Stanley dives in for a single leg takedown but Workman sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Workman throws a head kick but Stanley moves out of range.
Stanley changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Workman misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Workman shoots in but no luck this time.
Stanley lands a nice looking body shot.

Stanley drives through and clinches with Workman against the cage.
Stanley tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Workman just stands there and leans against the cage.

It looks like Andrew Workman has been cut.

Stanley blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Workman breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Stanley is defended easily by Workman.
Andrew Workman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sean Stanley.
Stanley takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Workman.

and Stanley counters with a good, hard body kick but Workman shrugs it off.
Workman shoots in but Stanley avoids the takedown attempt easily.
As Workman backs off Stanley throws a huge counter combo but Workman manages to avoid it all.

Stanley has closed the distance and engaged Workman in a clinch.
Workman really is built like a bowling ball. I wonder if he'd roll if you pushed him down a hill...

Workman drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Stanley gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Stanley jumps guard and drags Workman to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Workman is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Stanley wants to stand but Workman is controlling the position.
Workman might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Stanley controls Workman momentarily but Workman frees himself.
Stanley can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Workman controls the pace.

Workman has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Stanley uses from the top position.
