Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dominic Vera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake Heke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vera comes to the cage accompanied by Romper Stomper. The crowd seem to be enjoying Heke's choice of entrance music: She Hates Me. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Bruno Hogan and Summer Carpenter.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vera has a takedown stuffed.
Vera fails with the takedown.
Vera closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Heke trying to control but Vera postures up.
Vera is looking to stall here but Heke recovers full guard.
Vera throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Heke is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Heke is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Vera is controlling him.

Heke really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Vera. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Vera wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Heke, who protects the arm well.

Vera swings around for an armbar but Heke sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Vera's guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Heke wants to control from the top but Vera keeps moving.

Heke is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Vera isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Heke stacks Vera on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Heke!

Vera creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Heke sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Vera wants to control but Heke is keeping him busy.

Heke comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Vera closes this distance looking for a takedown but Heke circles away.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Vera throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Heke works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Vera passes Heke's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Still in half guard, Vera seems content to control.
Heke is refusing to be controlled, as Vera sits in half guard.
Vera is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Heke is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Vera is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Vera takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Vera fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Vera closes the distance and clinches up with Heke, looking for a takedown. Vera pushes Heke against the cage but Heke circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Vera shoots in but no luck this time.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Vera lands a big shot there that rocks Heke but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Vera is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Heke has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Vera lands a big elbow.
Vera has hold of Heke's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Heke manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
