Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Xavier Martinez (ranked 8880 p4p, 0 weight class) and Charles Anderson (ranked 6026 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Xavier Martinez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Charles Anderson!
The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Daniel Franklin and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Anderson stuffs the takedown.
Despite the aggression on Anderson's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Martinez throws a wild body kick that Anderson sees coming a mile off.
No luck for Anderson with that takedown attempt.
Anderson throws a body punch but Martinez moves out of range.
Martinez tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Anderson swivels and escapes.
Anderson throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Martinez.

Anderson shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Martinez is trying to defend but Anderson finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Martinez tries to kick Anderson off in order to stand up. Anderson Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Martinez tries to escape but Anderson is in control.
Anderson throws an elbow but Martinez slips to the side and avoids it well.
Anderson fails to land a wild elbow strike.

Martinez is not content to let Anderson control the position.

Martinez is trying to control Anderson's posture but Anderson avoids it.
Anderson cracks Martinez with a big right hand but Martinez just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
You can see the frustration on Martinez's face as Anderson controls the position.
Let's hope that Anderson has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Martinez tries to buck Anderson off but Anderson is having none of it.
Anderson tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
You can see the frustration on Martinez's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Martinez is letting Anderson control him for a moment.

Anderson is working Martinez over with some ground and pound from side control.
Martinez wants to control but Anderson postures up.
Anderson is looking to take a break and control but Martinez is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Anderson tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Martinez seems a little lost for a moment, as Anderson dominates the positioning.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Anderson wants to stand but Martinez is controlling his arm.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Anderson tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Martinez manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Anderson throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Martinez stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Martinez is looking to clinch.
Anderson is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Martinez misses with a takedown attempt - Anderson sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Xavier Martinez. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Anderson with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Martinez tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Anderson manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Martinez looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Anderson shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Martinez defends it nicely.
Anderson tries to close the distance and clinch up but Martinez swats him away and circles back towards the center.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Anderson closes this distance looking for a takedown but Martinez circles away.
Martinez lands a nice shot to the body.
Martinez fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Martinez throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Anderson drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Anderson is looking to stand up but Martinez won't let him.
Anderson content to stall in guard here.
Anderson throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Martinez works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Anderson slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Anderson is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Anderson tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Martinez was well out of range. Poor timing from Anderson.
Martinez is looking to counter the offense by Anderson and move into the clinch.

Anderson shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Martinez wants to get back to his feet but Anderson passes into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Anderson is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Martinez is looking for a sweep. Anderson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Anderson wants to work for an arm triangle but Martinez is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Anderson lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Anderson has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Anderson looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Anderson trying to control from half guard but Martinez is working away.
Anderson wants to stand but Martinez has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Anderson is figuring out what he wants to do next.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Charles Anderson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Anderson tries to close the distance and clinch but Martinez swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Anderson looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Martinez is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Martinez is working hard here to advance position.

Anderson looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Anderson passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Martinez!

Martinez holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Anderson tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Anderson tries to control but Martinez wriggling away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Anderson looking to secure an arm triangle but Martinez defends it well.
Anderson looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.

Anderson is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Martinez to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Martinez shrugs it off.
A nice elbow there by Anderson.
Martinez wants to hold on but Anderson pushes him away.
Anderson is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Anderson working for a submission but Martinez is keeping him at bay.
Anderson looking to finish Martinez with some ground and pound. This is bad for Martinez!
Martinez wants to hold on but Anderson pushes him away.
Martinez is trying to reverse the position but instead Anderson has taken his back - oops!
Martinez trying to control the hands but Anderson breaks the grip.

Martinez is trying to roll into a better position but Anderson has get a rear naked choke and Martinez is forced to tap out! This one is allllll over!
