Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Pavel Hryunov (ranked 5790 p4p, 527 weight class) and Craig Patton (ranked 21324 p4p, 680 weight class). Patton has chosen Heart of a Champion - Nelly as his entrance music. The key to victory for Pavel Hryunov has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Pavel Hryunov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Craig Patton!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Alan Glass and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Patton throws out a leg kick but Hryunov moves out of range and Patton only half commits.
Hryunov looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Hryunov throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Hryunov lands a two punch combo.
Hryunov throws a right hand that Patton ducks under and follows up with a left that Patton also avoids with ease.
Hryunov will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Hryunov stuffs the takedown.
Hryunov takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Hryunov looks to throw the jab but Patton is out of range.
Pavel Hryunov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Patton closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Patton lands in his opponent's guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Patton controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Hryunov looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

Patton is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Hryunov wants to stand but Patton is controlling the position.
Hryunov keeping moving, preventing Patton from controlling successfully.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Patton wants to pass the guard but Hryunov is keeping the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Hryunov cracks Patton with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Patton steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Hryunov.
Patton throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Hryunov.
Patton throws a leg kick that misses.
Hryunov clobbers Patton with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
A big right from Hryunov misses.
Patton is looking for the big counter here.
No joy there for Hryunov, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Patton staying out of range there.
Patton is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hryunov throws a shot to the body.
Hryunov throws a right and a left that both miss.
Patton looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Hryunov lands a jab.
Hryunov misses the shot to the body.
Patton on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Hryunov lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Hryunov throws out a powerful jab.
Patton tries to close the distance and clinch but Hryunov swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Hryunov looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Hryunov misses with a straight left.
Hryunov throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Patton with the counter takedown but Hryunov avoids it easily.

Hryunov forces Patton back against the cage and clinches.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hryunov lands an uppercut.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Patton blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Patton has Hryunov pushed against the cage.
Hryunov working aggressively here.

Hryunov pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Hryunov fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Patton on the side of the head.
Patton avoids a punch combination nicely.
Patton has a takedown stuffed.
Patton drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Hryunov throws a shot to the body.
Hryunov throws a body shot but no joy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pavel Hryunov dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Patton throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Patton wants to clinch up but Hryunov keeps it at a distance.

Oooooh!!! Hryunov has knocked Patton down with a huge combo! Hryunov steps away and waves a wobbly Patton back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!


Patton is rocked!


It looks like Craig Patton has been cut.
Hryunov walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Patton checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Patton is still on wobbly legs! Can Hryunov finish him?

Hryunov cracks Patton with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Hryunov has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Patton to stand back up!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Pavel Hryunov tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
Craig Patton spoke after the fight, saying 'He was the better fighter tonight. I'll be back. '.
