Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Geoffrey Barr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joe Martins !
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Bruno Lombardi and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Martins goes for a double leg but Barr avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Barr continues to drive forward.
Barr attempts a counter takedown but Martins avoids it well and moves away.
Joe Martins seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Martins tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Barr manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Martins looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Martins tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Barr defends well and Martins ends up having to push Barr into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Geoffrey Barr has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joe Martins .

Barr shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Barr showed some decent athleticism there.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Martins rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Barr moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Martins is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Barr to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Barr shrugs it off.
Barr is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Martins is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Barr has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Barr is refusing to be controlled, as Martins sits in half guard.

Martins shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Barr but Barr pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Barr seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Martins is trying hard to land a takedown here. Barr sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Martins pushes Barr off but Barr dives into side control.

Barr tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Barr has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Barr wants to lay and pray for a moment but Martins keeps working.

Martins wants to control but Barr postures up.

A lull in the action here as Barr stalls from top position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Barr lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Barr stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Martins has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! Barr manages to get his head free but now Martins has transitioned to an armbar! Barr grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from Martins ! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:24 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Joe Martins !
Joe Martins decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
