Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Luis Rose (ranked 23164 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Grundmann (ranked 5833 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Grundmann closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Rose to the mat! Rose manages to get full guard.
Rose looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Rose keeping moving, preventing Grundmann from controlling successfully.
Grundmann stands and throws Rose's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Grundmann is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Rose is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Grundmann is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Rose knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Grundmann goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Rose has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Grundmann but great work by Rose.
Grundmann is looking to regain half guard here but Rose keeps moving and retains side control.

I really don't envy Grundmann right now.
Rose doesn't have the hooks in and Grundmann manages to turn into his guard.
Grundmann's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Rose looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Grundmann wants to control from the top but Rose keeps moving.
Grundmann might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Rose haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Rose is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Grundmann is aware though and is defending well.

Grundmann is looking for a kimura but Rose is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Grundmann to get the leverage.
Grundmann takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Grundmann is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Rose is just riding it out for now. Grundmann eventually gives up the hold.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Grundmann seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Rose does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Grundmann is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Rose defends it well.

Grundmann maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Rose could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Grundmann has cracked it and Rose is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Grundmann!
