Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jean Carlos Ortiz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tatsujiri Matsui (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tatsujiri Matsui will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jean Carlos Ortiz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tatsujiri Matsui!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Wesley Smith and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck for Matsui with that takedown attempt.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Ortiz.

Ortiz decides to stand back up.

Ortiz looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Ortiz works his way into side control.
Matsui manages to get back to half guard.
Matsui is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Matsui avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Ortiz.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Ortiz in particular looking to stall.
Ortiz prevents Matsui from improving his position.
Matsui is trying to stand up here but Ortiz is controlling him well.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Matsui flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ortiz is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Ortiz looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Matsui is trying to escape the mount.

Ortiz looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Ortiz blocks Matsui's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.
Ortiz controlling the position easily from mount.
Ortiz pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Matsui manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Matsui is not content to let Ortiz control the position.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Ortiz is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Matsui is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Matsui won't allow Ortiz to pass to mount.
Matsui is staying active underneath Ortiz, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Matsui wants to get back to full guard.
Ortiz thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Matsui's head.
Matsui punching from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Ortiz will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Ortiz.
Matsui throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.
Ortiz wants to control but Matsui is keeping him busy.
Matsui striking from the bottom but nothing landed.
Ortiz lands an elbow.
Matsui is pushing Ortiz's head away, looking to escape. Ortiz manages to hold on to the position though.
Matsui looks gassed!
Matsui is trying to get back to half guard.
Matsui tries to control but Ortiz manages to take his back.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Ortiz is riding his opponent, not letting Matsui buck him off.
Ortiz not allowing Matsui to control his hands.
Ortiz gets his hooks in and is throwing strikes.
Ortiz loading up with punches from the back mount - how long can Matsui hold on?
Matsui is keeping busy.
Ortiz cracks Matsui with a big shot to body and one to the head - really punishing Matsui from the back mount here, looking to soften him up.

Ortiz has his arm under Matsui's chin here. Game over son! Ortiz squeezes tightly and Matsui is forced to tap out!
