The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Tarja Halkonen and Johanna Lukiainen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mcconnell rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Facepunchsky moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Facepunchsky gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Mcconnell to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Mcconnell is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Mcconnell keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Facepunchsky's head.
Facepunchsky wants to stand up but Mcconnell is controlling him.
Facepunchsky looking to hit a scissor sweep but Mcconnell is one step ahead there.
Mcconnell scoring with some ground and pound.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mcconnell postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Mcconnell has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Mcconnell stays in close to Facepunchsky's body and controls the position.
Mcconnell seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Facepunchsky for as long as he can get away with.

Mcconnell stands up over Facepunchsky, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Mcconnell stands up from Facepunchsky's guard - Mcconnell perhaps looking for a knockout.
Facepunchsky has Mcconnell up against the cage in a clinch.

Facepunchsky tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Mcconnell has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Facepunchsky uses from the top position.
Mcconnell looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Mcconnell is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Mcconnell lands a nice short elbow.
Still in half guard, Mcconnell seems content to control.
Mcconnell has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Mcconnell seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Facepunchsky is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
