The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Patterson throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Shackleford.
Patterson swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Shackleford counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Patterson could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Shackleford prevents Patterson from getting back to his feet.

Shackleford is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Patterson defends it well.
