The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Childress thows a left - swing and a miss!
Childress tries for a takedown but Diaz circles away easily
and Diaz counters with a straight right hand.
Childress throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Diaz sees it coming and avoids it easily.
A little jabbing left from Diaz on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Diaz slaps away a takedown attempt from Childress, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Childress throws a poor cross that misses
and Diaz connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Childress misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Despite the aggression on Diaz's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Angel Childress. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Childress takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Childress won't let Diaz get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Childress postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Diaz in real trouble here! The ref calls for Diaz to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!
