Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dan Fernando (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stavros Drivas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Drivas is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Rob Hubbard - Commando. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dan Fernando!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Stavros Drivas!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Steve Smith and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown by Fernando or perhaps it was just good defense by Drivas which made him look bad.
A cross from Drivas lands.
Drivas misses with a jab, cross combination.
Drivas tests Fernando's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Drivas throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Fernando's head.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Jab, jab by Drivas - just one landing.
A head kick from Drivas lands but Fernando takes it in his stride.
Fernando looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Drivas is fending him off so far but Fernando persists. Nope, Drivas circles away and we're back to standing.
Fernando throws a nice looking combination but Drivas bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Drivas sets himself and throws a head kick that knocks Fernando to the ground! Drivas dives into full mount looking to finish!
Fernando tries to get back to half guard but can't.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fernando wants to control but Drivas is having none of it.
Drivas controlling his opponent.
Drivas manages to capitalize on a mistake by Fernando to take his back!
Fernando rolls, trying to escape but Drivas keeps control of the position.
Fernando trying to control the position but Drivas manages to sink in the hooks.
Fernando tries to roll but Drivas sticks to his back.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Drivas is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.
Let's hope that Drivas has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Fernando really is a fat lump.
Fernando is in bad spot here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fernando trying to control the position but Drivas manages to sink in the hooks.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Fernando is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
Drivas has the hooks in. Fernando is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Fernando is working hard here to advance position.
Fernando might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
A bit of a pause in the action here. Drivas controlling the positon.

Despite being in the dominant position, Stavros Drivas just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Fernando takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
A thudding body kick lands there by Drivas!
Fernando is breathing heavily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Drivas works the jab nicely.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Fernando takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Drivas throws a left that rocks Fernando and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Drivas dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Fernando regain composure!


It looks like Dan Fernando has been cut.
Drivas is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Fernando is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Drivas happy to just control the position for now.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Fernando is trying to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Stavros Drivas dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Dan Fernando's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Fernando takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Drivas fakes the leg kick and cracks Fernando in the body.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Drivas clinches up with Fernando and pushes him back against the cage.

Drivas's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Drivas stalks Fernando and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Fernando's face. Fernando staggers backwards, shaken.
Fernando takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Drivas thows a body kick. Fernando tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Fernando on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Drivas lands a high kick to the side of Fernando's head that stuns him and send him tumbling down to the canvas! Drivas dives into guard, looking to finish.


Fernando is rocked!
Drivas stays in close to Fernando's body and controls the position.
Oh Fernando is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Fernando is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Fernando seems to have got his legs back now.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Drivas advances position into side control!

Drivas has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Stavros Drivas seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Drivas throws an overhand right from the outside, which connects and sends Fernando stumbling backwards into the cage! Fernando bounces back off the cage towards Drivas, who cracks him with a two punch combination that drops him to his knees! Drivas lands two more shots before the referee has chance to intervene - what a finish! Drivas celebrates with his corner as the crowd cheer loudly.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:28 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Stavros Drivas!
