Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Andre Soares (ranked 1198 p4p, 139 weight class) and James Krause (ranked 2709 p4p, 308 weight class). Soares comes to the cage accompanied by Black Sabbath - Iron Man. Krause has chosen Heart of a Champion as his entrance music. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Andre Soares!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 15 - 0, fighting out of London, James Krause!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, John Kavanagh and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Krause shoots in and gets a takedown into Soares's guard.

Soares manages to escape and get back to his feet.
A combination from Soares does no damage.
A combination from Krause does no damage.
Soares went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Krause shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Soares pinned against the cage. Soares gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Krause drives through with a takedown into Soares's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Soares has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Krause is proving hard to escape from.

and Soares counters with a three punch combo that has Krause backing up. Krause nods at Soares to acknowledge the strikes.

Krause looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Soares has picked Krause up and slammed him! Krause can't keep hold of the triangle and Soares manages to pass to side control!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Krause manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Krause is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Soares pulls his head out easily.
Krause wants to improve his position but Soares is controlling well.
Soares wants to stand up but Krause has a hold of him and won't allow it.

Soares decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Krause shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Krause connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Krause lands a nice shot that snaps Soares's head back.
Soares scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.


It looks like James Krause has been cut.

Krause shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Soares is trying to defend but Krause finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Soares is looking to escape.
Krause thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Soares's head.

Krause wants to work for an arm triangle but Soares is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Krause throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Soares throws a right hand that Krause ducks under and follows up with a left that Krause also avoids with ease.

It looked like Soares was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Krause shoots for a double leg takedown but Soares sprawls well. He's pushed Krause's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Soares stalks Krause and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Krause's face. Krause staggers backwards, shaken.

Krause shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Krause was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Soares bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!

Andre Soares showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Soares has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Andre Soares really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Aspire Nutrition logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
The defeated James Krause had this to say: 'I want a rematch. I'll beat him in the next one, just as I did with everyone who was lucky enough to beat me in Highland Games.'.
