The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A shot to the liver by Calhoun. Beautiful body shot.

Calhoun gets the takedown into side control.

Calhoun stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Calhoun closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Patton explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Patton really is a fat lump.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Patton tries to close the distance and clinch but Calhoun swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Calhoun throws a right and a left that Patton avoids nicely.

Patton gets caught flat footed, as Calhoun shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Patton thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Calhoun has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Patton is proving hard to escape from.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Calhoun swats away the attempt to clinch by Patton.

Calhoun bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Patton is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Calhoun is controlling him well.

Patton sneaks out the side door and pushes Calhoun away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

Calhoun drives through with a takedown into Patton's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Patton is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Calhoun has hold of one of Patton's legs. Patton is fighting the takedown attempt but Calhoun gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Patton manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Patton jumps guard but Calhoun turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Patton jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Calhoun walks away with a smile on his face. Patton gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Horrible takedown attempt by Patton or perhaps it was just good defense by Calhoun, which made it look bad.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

That was a close round but I would say that Paul Patton will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Calhoun slaps away a takedown attempt from Patton, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Patton dives in for a single leg takedown but Calhoun sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Patton takes a jab right on the kisser.
Calhoun walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Patton drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Calhoun swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Patton's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!
