The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Oliver shoots in and gets a takedown into Giordano's guard.

Giordano has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Oliver has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
Giordano wants to break free but Oliver has control.
Giordano wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Oliver has him pressed against the cage.

Oliver lands a good knee to the midsection. Giordano won't want to take too many of those.
Giordano has Oliver pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Oliver manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Oliver's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Giordano is fighting off a takedown attempt but Oliver is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Giordano to the mat. Giordano regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Oliver makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Oliver gets to his feet. Giordano looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Giordano really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Oliver. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
