Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Gerry Riggs (ranked 7451 p4p, 0 weight class) and CJ Johnson (ranked 5667 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Gerry Riggs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, CJ Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Ben Hemmingworth and Francis DeMontford.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Riggs misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Riggs swats away the attempt to clinch by Johnson.
Johnson feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Riggs's calf.
Riggs looks for a takedown but Johnson sprawls well.

Johnson pushes Riggs up against the cage in a clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Johnson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
The fight stays on the outside here - Johnson looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Riggs really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Riggs throws a quick counter head kick but Johnson was just out of range.
Riggs shoots in for a takedown but Johnson shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Riggs has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Riggs is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Johnson tries to close the distance and clinch but Riggs swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Riggs throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Johnson's waist but Johnson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Riggs off to one side.

Johnson wants to clinch up but Riggs keeps it at a distance.

Johnson misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Riggs was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.

Riggs shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Riggs showed some decent athleticism there.

Johnson kicks Riggs off and gets back to his feet.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Johnson doesn't manage to clinch there - Riggs circles away.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Riggs's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Johnson has hold of one of Riggs's legs. Riggs is fighting the takedown attempt but Johnson gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

and Riggs counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Riggs will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Johnson walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Riggs checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Riggs is defended easily by Johnson.

Johnson can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Riggs controls the pace.

CJ Johnson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Johnson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
