Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sly Yaj (ranked 766 p4p, 77 weight class) and John Bravo (ranked 1297 p4p, 140 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Sly Yaj!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, John Bravo!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Sandra Marshall and Winston Alpacca.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bravo throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
A counter left hand to the body from Yaj misses its target.
The fighters circle momentarily. Yaj darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Yaj just misses with a punch to the body.
Yaj is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.


It looks like John Bravo has been cut.
Yaj connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Yaj fails in his attempt to clinch.
Bravo doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Yaj keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Left hook, right uppercut from Yaj.
Yaj scores with a three punch combo!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Yaj throws a series of punches but Bravo avoids them all with ease.
Yaj lands a slapping body shot.
Yaj throws a hook but Bravo avoids it easily.

Bravo shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Bravo was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Yaj dodges the ground and pound from Bravo.
Bravo working the ground and pound but Yaj is defending the strikes.
Bravo landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
Yaj knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Bravo on the ground.
Bravo trying to control the position but Yaj is working away.
Bravo cracks Yaj with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Bravo has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Bravo tries to score with some ground and pound. Yaj controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Bravo is working Yaj over with some ground and pound from side control.
Bravo lands a few punches from side control.
Yaj looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Yaj is working to avoid the ground and pound but Bravo connects with a decent elbow.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Yaj tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Bravo tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Sloppy strikes there by Bravo.
Bravo in side control lands a decent elbow.

Bravo in side control, throwing shots but Yaj defends.
Bravo lands an elbow.
Bravo working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.

Yaj parries the strikes from Bravo easily there. Bravo is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Yaj to escape.
Bravo looks up at the clock and then as Yaj takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Bravo smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Bravo cracks Yaj with a big right hand but Yaj just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Bravo is looking to take a break and control but Yaj is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Yaj takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Bravo scoring with punches from side control.
Bravo creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Yaj takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Yaj parries the strikes from Bravo easily there. Bravo is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Yaj to escape.
Yaj is not content to let Bravo control the position.
An elbow from Bravo crashes against the mat.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Bravo is chipping away with strikes.
Bravo working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Bravo lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Yaj down.
Bravo throws an elbow but Yaj slips to the side and avoids it well.
Bravo has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Yaj!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bravo working away from the top, dropping strikes.
Bravo controlling from mount.
Bravo with the ground and pound from mount.


It looks like Sly Yaj has been cut.
Oooooh, big shot lands for Bravo! Yaj is hurt baaadly! Bravo is firing away with more strikes - Yaj is covering up... the ref is warning him to do something. He's just covering up though still and the ref has to step in to end the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). John Bravo!
John Bravo is the new heavyweight champion!
A relieved looking John Bravo thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
