The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Oxford manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Joe on his heels. He'll look to pass Joe's guard now, I'm sure.
Oxford works over Joe with some ground and pound from guard.
Oxford is in close to Joe's body, working some short punches and elbows.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Oxford is working Joe over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Oxford not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Oxford lands a couple of decent looking shots.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Oxford working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well.
Oxford passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Joe tries to bench press Oxford off him but Oxford keeps the position.
