The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Bruno Lombardi and Russell Pearce.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hadley Jr closes the distance and clinches.
I was talking to Hadley Jr's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Hadley Jr wants to break free but Valerdi has control.
Hadley Jr breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Valerdi gets tackled into the cage by Hadley Jr. Hadley Jr maintains the clinch.

Valerdi shoots for a double leg takedown but Hadley Jr sprawls well. He's pushed Valerdi's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Hadley Jr shoots in looking for a takedown. Valerdi tries to sprawl out of it but Hadley Jr keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Valerdi manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Alex Hadley Jr seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Valerdi counters by clinching up.

Valerdi tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Hadley Jr smiles and moves away.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Valerdi darts in and clinches Hadley Jr up against the cage.

Hadley Jr tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Valerdi just stands there and leans against the cage.

Hadley Jr wants to break free but Valerdi has control.
Valerdi breaks from the clinch.
Valerdi throws a leg kick
and Hadley Jr counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Valerdi throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Hadley Jr's waist but Hadley Jr gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Valerdi off to one side.

Hadley Jr lands a big head kick that sends Valerdi tumbling to the mat! Hadley Jr takes a step backwards and waves Valerdi back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Valerdi is rocked!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Both fighters circling slowly here as the pace drops. Hopefully one of them does someth.. OOOHHHH!!!! Hadley Jr throws an absolute beast of a head kick! Valerdi is done! He's out cold, twisted and contorted up against the cage! Wow!
