PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Ian Laperierre (ranked 6077 p4p, 279 weight class) and Deanda Cohohnas (ranked 7296 p4p, 315 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Deanda Cohohnas!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Colin Fotheringham and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Laperierre throws a leg kick but Cohohnas sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Cohohnas changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Laperierre really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Laperierre is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Cohohnas takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Laperierre throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Cohohnas is clearly looking to counter with head kicks.

The referee is keeping an eye on Laperierre - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Laperierre takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Laperierre has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Cohohnas is trying to keep an underhook but Laperierre manages to get the takedown into half guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Laperierre has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Cohohnas uses from the top position.

Laperierre's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Laperierre remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
