Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Flavius Nerva!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Konstantin Menshow and Aleksei Zolotukhin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nerva misses with a takedown attempt - Jones sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Nerva swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Nerva drops down looking for an ankle pick but Jones pulls his leg out and moves away.
Nerva uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Jones.

Nerva shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
A chopping leg kick lands by Jones.

and Jones counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Jones has his takedown stuffed

and Nerva counters with a takedown into side control.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Marcus Jones. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Nerva goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Jones has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Nerva but great work by Jones.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jones throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Nerva.

and Nerva counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Jones can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Nerva controls the pace.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Nerva stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jones swivels though and keeps the full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jones feints and as Nerva raises his hands in defense, Jones changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Nerva stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.

Despite being in the dominant position, Flavius Nerva just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Nerva feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Nerva wants to free his trapped foot but Jones is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Nerva in particular looking to stall.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Nerva really wants to buck Jones off and get back to his feet.

Flavius Nerva is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Nerva remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
