Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jari Mela!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Donatello Bradman and Hugh Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Playboy tries to close the distance and clinch up but Mela swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Mela wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Playboy closes the distance and clinches.
Mela wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Playboy prevents Mela from breaking the clinch.
Mela blocks an elbow strike.
Playboy escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Mela listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Mela scores with a one two! Playboy had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
It looks like Johnny Playboy has been cut.
A decent looking cross lands there for Mela.
Playboy takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Playboy tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Mela defends well and Playboy ends up having to push Mela into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Playboy looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Mela is fending him off so far but Playboy persists. Nope, Mela circles away and we're back to standing.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Playboy takes one to the side of the head.
Good leg kick by Playboy there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Playboy with a lazy takedown attempt
and Mela counters with a right hand to the body.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Johnny Playboy. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Playboy slips a jab and a cross from Mela.
Jari Mela seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mela closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Playboy has Mela up against the cage in a clinch.
Playboy tries to pull guard but Mela holds him up against the cage and eventually Playboy drops back down to his feet.
Playboy manages to break the clinch.
Mela scores with a one two! Playboy had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Playboy fails with an attempt to clinch.
Playboy moves in looking to clinch but Mela pushes him off.
Playboy on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Playboy misses with a takedown attempt - Mela sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Mela scores with a shot to the body.

Mela lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Jari Mela is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Mela throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Playboy stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Mela connects with a jab.
Playboy is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Mela.
Mela bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Playboy's head.
Playboy tries to clinch
and Mela counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Mela has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

Playboy is rocked!
Mela feints with a jab and clips Playboy right behind the ear with a massive overhand right! Playboy is sent crashing into the canvas and Mela leaps in for the kill! Playboy tries to get to his feet but Mela is just battering him from every conceivable angle. The ref decides that Playboy is in need of a savior and steps in!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:52 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jari Mela!
