Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Fernando Pittman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Andy Preston!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Preston dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Pittman shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Preston napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Pittman tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Preston is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Pittman is staying tight to Preston's torso, preventing him from escaping.

Pittman stands up.

Pittman fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Preston sprawls well initially but Pittman persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Pittman has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Preston is looking for a sweep. Pittman is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Pittman stands up and beckons Preston to join him on the feet.

Preston moves into the clinch.
Pittman tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Pittman breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Preston shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Pittman but Pittman pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Pittman throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Preston's waist but Preston gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Pittman off to one side.

Pittman throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Preston was covering up waiting for the punch and Pittman finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Pittman is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Preston looking to hit a scissor sweep but Pittman is one step ahead there.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Pittman moves into the clinch.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Pittman pushes Preston back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Pittman's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Preston shoots in for a takedown but Pittman shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Pittman was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.

Pittman is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Preston's shoulder. That is not cool.

You can see the frustration on Preston's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Pittman happy to just control the position for now.
Pittman seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Preston for as long as he can get away with.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Preston takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Well, if Pittman is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Preston is looking to improve his position.
Pittman is taking a breather. Preston says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Preston displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Pittman.
Preston throws a big counter head kick but Pittman avoids it with no problem.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Fernando Pittman. That's going to take a lot out of him.

With the fighters up against the cage, Pittman throws an elbow but misses.

Preston goes for a double leg but Pittman avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Pittman continues to drive forward.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Fernando Pittman.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Pittman, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
