The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Maverick will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Liddell up against the cage.
Maverick's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Maverick drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Liddell gets the underhooks and prevents it.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Liddell moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

Liddell stalks Maverick and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Maverick's face. Maverick staggers backwards, shaken.

Maverick changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Liddell tries to avoid it but Maverick manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Liddell to the ground. Liddell escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Liddell, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
