PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jason Bozzi (ranked 3400 p4p, 278 weight class) and Dean Fellows (ranked 3473 p4p, 283 weight class). Fellows has chosen Welcome to the Jungle as his entrance music. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Dean Fellows was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jason Bozzi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 16 - 1, fighting out of London, Dean Fellows!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fellows tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Bozzi manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Bozzi appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Fellows fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Fellows tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Bozzi was well out of range. Poor timing from Fellows.
A head kick misses from Fellows.
Bozzi drops down looking for a counter takedown but Fellows sprawls and moves away.
Bozzi fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Fellows avoids it really well and circles away.

Fellows gets in close and instigates a clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Bozzi jumps into guard, dragging Fellows to the mat.

Fellows stands up and waves to Bozzi to follow him.
Fellows connects with a good right hand that stumbles Bozzi. Bozzi circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

Fellows lands a really nice looking cross but Bozzi seems unphased.
Fellows tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Bozzi was well out of range. Poor timing from Fellows.

Bozzi bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Bozzi is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Bozzi is looking to take a break and control but Fellows is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Fellows is trying to buck Bozzi off.
Fellows is trying to escape the position but Bozzi is controlling the position.

Fellows pushes Bozzi away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Bozzi gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Fellows managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Bozzi.

Bozzi swings around for an armbar but Fellows sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Bozzi's guard.
Bozzi seems keen to control Fellows's posture.
Bozzi wants to sweep here but Fellows controlling him for the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Fellows avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Fellows gets to his feet - Bozzi follows without any prompting.
Bozzi swats away the attempt to clinch by Fellows.

Bozzi manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Fellows on his heels. He'll look to pass Fellows's guard now, I'm sure.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fellows wants to stand and escape but Bozzi is having none of it.
Bozzi is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Fellows has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Bozzi has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dean Fellows dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Bozzi dives in and grabs Fellows's left leg, looking for a takedown. Fellows pushes down on Bozzi's head and hops out.

Fellows displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Bozzi.
Bozzi avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Bozzi takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Jason Bozzi has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Well Fellows has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
