Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Zachariah Nichols!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Riley Chapman !
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, David Schapiro and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Nichols gets caught napping as Chapman dives in and scores a takedown. Nichols manages to retain guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Chapman accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Chapman slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Chapman wants to pass the guard but Nichols is keeping the position.
Chapman controls from within his opponent's guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Chapman scores with a takedown into Nichols's guard.
Chapman showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
It looks like Chapman might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Chapman 's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
More stalling from Chapman .
Chapman in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Chapman stands and throws Nichols's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Nichols wants to control but Chapman postures up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Nichols trying to remain calm as Chapman controls from the top position.

Chapman thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Chapman looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Chapman tries for a kimura but Nichols is defending well.
Chapman trying to control the position but Nichols is working away.
Nichols could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Chapman stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Chapman looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

Nichols working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Chapman doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Chapman manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Chapman passes Nichols's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Riley Chapman dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Chapman wants to clinch up but Nichols keeps it at a distance.
Nichols wants to clinch.
Riley Chapman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Chapman closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Nichols to the mat! Nichols manages to get full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Chapman is looking to work some ground and pound but Nichols has wrist control.

Chapman stands and steps away. Nichols gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Chapman feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Nichols knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Chapman on the ground.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Nichols avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Chapman pushes down on Nichols's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Chapman stalling.
Chapman lands a massive shot from half guard that has rocked Nichols! More strikes land and this one is all over! Chapman jumps to his feet and is applauded loudly by the crowd!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:48 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Riley Chapman !
