Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Alessio La Preziosa (ranked 5870 p4p, 0 weight class) and Francisco Marquez (ranked 5869 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Marquez gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Marquez is trying to break the clinch but La Preziosa is controlling him.

Marquez jumps guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Marquez has his foot on La Preziosa's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. La Preziosa works his way back into a safe position though.
La Preziosa has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Marquez is proving hard to escape from.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Marquez wants to sweep but no luck.
Marquez keeps trying to improve his position.

Marquez has control of La Preziosa's left arm, preventing La Preziosa from doing any damage.
La Preziosa wanted to stand there but Marquez had control of the position.

Marquez is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Marquez content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Marquez is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so La Preziosa is just riding it out for now. Marquez eventually gives up the hold.
La Preziosa tries to roll over but Marquez keeps him under control.

Marquez has control of La Preziosa's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and La Preziosa regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Marquez looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

La Preziosa tries to lock up and control but Marquez gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Marquez jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… La Preziosa is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by La Preziosa and Marquez has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

La Preziosa shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

Marquez has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
La Preziosa jumps guard but Marquez stands there with La Preziosa around his waist. La Preziosa gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Marquez gets control of La Preziosa's arms and successfully pulls guard. Marquez will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

La Preziosa is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Marquez is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Marquez sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed La Preziosa's guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Marquez thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed La Preziosa's head.
Marquez is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

La Preziosa is desperately trying to improve his position but Marquez has a good base and remains in mount.

Francisco Marquez showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
