Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Charley Cross (ranked 5908 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Storm (ranked 24873 p4p, 0 weight class). Storm comes into a darkened arena with his song building. criminal kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Michael Storm will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Storm fails in his attempt to clinch.
Storm looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Storm throws a leg kick
letting Cross counter with a right hand.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Storm enables Cross to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Storm manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Cross is looking to work some ground and pound but Storm has wrist control.
Cross knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Storm on the ground.
Cross scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Cross stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Storm swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Cross loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Cross gets to his feet - Storm follows without any prompting.

Cross shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Cross showed some decent athleticism there.

Storm makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

As Storm looks to move away, Cross throws a big counter combo but Storm just gets out of the way.
Cross tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Storm defends well and Cross ends up having to push Storm into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Cross shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Storm manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Storm utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Cross gets to his feet. Storm looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Cross is trying to work for a kimura but Storm is defending well.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Cross seems to be working for a kimura but Storm defends the submission attempt.

Storm keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Cross throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Cross darts in looking for a takedown but Storm gets double underhooks and turns Cross into the cage.
Storm lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Cross circles away quickly and effectively.
Cross changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Storm tries to avoid it but Cross manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Storm to the ground. Storm escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Cross goes for a double leg but Storm avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Storm continues to drive forward.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Charley Cross. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Storm shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Cross as he avoids it easily.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Cross throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Storm was covering up waiting for the punch and Cross finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Cross is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Storm can do to turn this around?

Cross could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Storm is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

and Cross counters with a one-two to the body.

Cross feints and as Storm raises his hands in defense, Cross changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Storm utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Cross drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Storm dives on top into guard.

Storm is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Cross is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Cross working a defensive guard but Storm passes into half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Cross is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Michael Storm showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Horrible takedown attempt by Cross or perhaps it was just good defense by Storm, which made it look bad.
Cross avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Storm shoots for a double leg takedown but Cross sprawls well. He's pushed Storm's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Cross is looking to counter the offense by Storm and move into the clinch.
Storm displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Cross.

Storm tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Storm drags the fight down to the ground.
Cross in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Storm is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Cross slips nicely into half guard.

Cross is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Storm is just riding it out for now. Cross eventually gives up the hold.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Storm looks like he's trying to stand up.

Cross is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Storm defends it well.

Cross wants to work for an arm triangle but Storm is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

and Cross counters with a three punch combo that has Storm backing up. Storm nods at Cross to acknowledge the strikes.
Storm shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Cross sprawls well. Cross wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Storm gets slowly back to his feet.
Cross is looking to counter with head kicks.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Storm tries to score with a low kick but Cross moves his leg out of the way.
Storm is looking to land body kicks.

And that's the end of the fight!

Well Cross has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
