Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Orval James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Joey Franco!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Franco drives through and clinches with James against the cage.

James tightens his grip and picks Franco up, before dumping him to the ground. Franco manages to land in guard.
James is working Franco over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

James looking to sit in guard and control but Franco gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

James thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Franco wanted to stand there but James had control of the position.
James doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Franco advances to half guard.
James tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Franco is keen to just control but James is a slippery customer.

Franco drops an elbow to the side of James's head.
James has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Franco takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Franco takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

James drives through with a takedown into guard.
James really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Franco is trying to control the position from the bottom.
James wants to control from the top but Franco keeps moving.
Franco bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in James's guard.

Franco slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
James wants to stand up but Franco is controlling him.

James doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

A momentary lapse in concentration from James enables Franco to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. James manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

James throws a counter high kick but Franco was just alert enough to avoid it.

Franco must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Franco tries to free his leg and advance position but James is retaining full guard.
James will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Franco shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. James manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

The strikes coming from Franco are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Franco is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But James has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from James!
