Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ian Banks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Putem The Nightmare!
The judges for this bout are Topper Green, Skip Squint and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Banks shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in The Nightmare's guard.
The Nightmare looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

The Nightmare looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

The Nightmare has his foot on Banks's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Banks works his way back into a safe position though.
The Nightmare wants to sweep but no luck.

Banks controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

The Nightmare working for a triangle but Banks defends it easily.
The Nightmare manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Banks manages to get himself to full guard.

Banks working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. The Nightmare doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. The Nightmare manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The Nightmare is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Banks is trying to hold The Nightmare in close to prevent damage but The Nightmare has managed to pass into half guard.

The Nightmare is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Banks is just riding it out for now. The Nightmare eventually gives up the hold.

Banks is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Banks tries to reverse the position but The Nightmare maintains control.

The Nightmare wants to control the pace but Banks is squirming around nicely.

The Nightmare has control of Banks's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Banks regains control of the situation pretty easily.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Banks seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.
Banks is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The Nightmare tries to get to full guard but Banks has control of the leg.

Banks can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as The Nightmare is looking to escape.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That was a close second round but I would say that Ian Banks will probably get the nod.

The Nightmare dives in for a single leg takedown but Banks sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

You can see the frustration on Banks's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Banks is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because The Nightmare is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

The Nightmare tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no The Nightmare has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

I think The Nightmare has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
