The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kain shoots for a takedown but Sosa saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Sosa looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

and Kain counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Kain.
Sosa wants to stand but Kain is controlling the position.

Kain slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kain grinds an elbow into Sosa's temple.
Sosa really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kain. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Sosa is looking to regain half guard here but Kain keeps moving and retains side control.

Kain wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Sosa, who protects the arm well.
Kain is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Sosa will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Kain stands up and beckons Sosa to his feet.
Sosa connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

It looks like Logan Kain has been cut.
Sosa throws a head kick that misses.

Kain will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

and Kain counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Sosa scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Kain manages to mount him!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Kain stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
Kain tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Sosa defends well and Kain ends up having to push Sosa into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Sosa tries to close the distance and clinch up but Kain swats him away and circles back towards the center.

and Kain counters with a single leg into guard. Sosa didn't expect that.
Sosa is looking to stand back up but Kain counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Sosa.

Kain has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Kain looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Sosa wants to get back to his feet.

Kain looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Sosa tries to get to full guard but Kain has control of the leg.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Kain works his way into full mount!
Kain breaks from Sosa's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Kain with shots to the head and body - Sosa looks very uncomfortable down there.
Sosa is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Sosa wants to hold on but Kain pushes him away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Kain's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Sosa.

Kain clinches up with Sosa and pushes him back against the cage.
Sosa is trying to break the clinch but Kain is controlling him.
Kain is working for takedown but Sosa is calmly controlling the position for now.
Kain is looking to take this one to the mat.
Sosa wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Kain has him pressed against the cage.
Sosa jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Kain walks away with a smile on his face. Sosa gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Sosa scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Kain manages to mount him!

Sosa has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sosa tries to roll but Kain sticks to his back.
