Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Abdulsalam Atlangeriev (ranked 5057 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eruera Wharerau (ranked 4521 p4p, 0 weight class). Eruera Wharerau will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Atlangeriev scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Wharerau on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Atlangeriev dodges the punch combination from Wharerau.

and Atlangeriev counters with a nice uppercut.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Atlangeriev lands a nice short elbow.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wharerau wants to improve his position but Atlangeriev is controlling well.
Atlangeriev knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Wharerau on the ground.
Atlangeriev takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Wharerau regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Atlangeriev.

Atlangeriev wants to lay and pray for a moment but Wharerau keeps working.

Atlangeriev is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Wharerau sees it coming and defends easily.
Abdulsalam Atlangeriev overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Wharerau lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.
Atlangeriev pulls Wharerau in close to prevent any damage.

Wharerau wants to get up but he can't break Atlangeriev's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Atlangeriev tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Wharerau presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Wharerau is trying to stand up but he's being controlled by his opponent.
Atlangeriev is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Wharerau gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Atlangeriev throws a solid leg kick but Wharerau takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Atlangeriev.

Wharerau is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Wharerau is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Atlangeriev is concentrating on defense, preventing Wharerau from advancing position.

Eruera Wharerau showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Atlangeriev is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Wharerau has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Atlangeriev is looking to defend but Wharerau has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Atlangeriev! Wharerau pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Atlangeriev taps out and this one is all over!
