PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jordan Parise (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sam Hain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hain has chosen Shadow Boxing by Nasty Habits as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jordan Parise!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sam Hain!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Yves DeLean and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hain scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Hain throwing strikes but Parise manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!
Hain is looking to reverse the position.
Hain gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Hain has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Hain is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Parise is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

Hain looking for submissions off his back.
Hain tries to roll over but Parise keeps him under control.
Parise knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hain on the ground.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Parise tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Hain.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Horrible takedown by Hain or perhaps it was just good defense by Parise which made him look bad.

Hain gets the takedown into side control.
Parise tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
Hain working away from the top, dropping strikes.
Hain is landing with some decent strikes but Parise is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Hain prevents Parise from getting the reversal.
Hain with good strikes from the mount here!

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Hain looking to secure an arm triangle but Parise defends it well.
Hain lands a big shot there that rocks Parise but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Hain lands a big elbow.
Parise is bucking up trying to escape but Hain cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Hain trying to control but Parise is having none of it.
Hain looking to ground and pound but Parise is blocking nicely.
Parise is breathing heavily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Hain looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Parise's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Hain lands a big elbow.
Hain punching from mount but Parise doing a good job of avoiding damage.
Hain in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Hain is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Parise can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Hain landing strikes, looking to finish!
Hain sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Hain goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Parise is on top in guard.
Hain bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Parise's guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Parise is trying to keep Hain in close.
Hain trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hain accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Hain working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Hain trying to control but Parise is working from the bottom.
Hain thows a big elbow that misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sam Hain dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Parise fails in his attempt to clinch.

Hain shoots in and bounces Parise off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Hain sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Parise's guard.
Hain lands strikes from half guard.
Parise is trying to stand.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hain working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Hain landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

Hain in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Parise tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Hain!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:01 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Sam Hain!
