Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jim Snyder (ranked 5935 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jay Kulina (ranked 7812 p4p, 0 weight class). Kulina has chosen Here comes the boom as his entrance music. Jay Kulina will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jim Snyder!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jay Kulina!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Kulina enables Snyder to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Kulina manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Kulina is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Kulina really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Snyder. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Snyder won't allow Kulina to sweep him here.
Kulina wants to hit a switch here but Snyder passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Kulina there!

Snyder gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!

Kulina breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Kulina is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Snyder pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Kulina is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Kulina is fighting to break Snyder's control of his arms but Snyder is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Kulina is standing up over Snyder. Snyder looks to escape but Kulina dives into side control.

Kulina thows a huge punch but Snyder dodges it nicely.

Snyder keeping moving, preventing Kulina from controlling successfully.

Kulina dives in and grabs Snyder's left leg, looking for a takedown. Snyder pushes down on Kulina's head and hops out.
Snyder tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Kulina manages to circle out of the way.
Nice sprawl there from Snyder as Kulina shoots in.

Kulina tries to keep at a distance but Snyder has taken the fight into the clinch.
Kulina keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Snyder's efforts to push away.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Snyder takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Snyder lands an elbow inside that Kulina shrugs off.

Jim Snyder has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jay Kulina.

Snyder working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Snyder is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Kulina can do to turn this around?
Kulina is trying to maintain the position but Snyder is very close to passing his half guard.

Snyder stands up out of the half guard.

Snyder closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Snyder thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Snyder will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

No luck for Kulina with that takedown attempt.

Kulina shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Snyder counters with a nice double leg into side control. Kulina won't be happy with that.
Kulina takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Snyder lands a decent elbow from side control.
Kulina struggling a bit here.

Snyder has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Jim Snyder is winning the standup battle so far.

Snyder shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Kulina napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Kulina wants to get back to his feet but Snyder is dominant here and he's now got Kulina's back!
