The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diaz tries to close the distance and clinch but Watson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Watson goes for a takedown attempt but Diaz pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Diaz tries to close the distance and clinch up but Watson swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Diaz really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Watson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Diaz can do anything to dispel that myth.
Watson is working Diaz over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Watson climbs onto the cage to celebrate with his corner!! He's shouting something into the camera but he's still got his mouthpiece in so God knows what he's actually saying.
