The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maldini tries to close the distance and clinch but Cassel swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Cassel drops down looking for a counter takedown but Maldini sprawls and moves away.
Maldini lands with a straight right. Cassel didn't see that one coming.
Maldini scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Maldini sizes up Cassel with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
We've been hearing reports that Cassel has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

Cassel shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Maldini pinned against the cage. Maldini gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
