Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ron Burgundy (ranked 1167 p4p, 188 weight class) and Chris Severn (ranked 3615 p4p, 486 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 51 - 21 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Ron Burgundy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 32 - 33 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Chris Severn!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Elvis Blanc and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Burgundy misses with a two punch combination.
Burgundy lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.


It looks like Chris Severn has been cut.
Severn scores with a shot to the body.
Severn connects with a body shot that sends Burgundy's belly button to the back.
Burgundy lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
A big left from Burgundy misses.
Burgundy's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Burgundy duly obliges.
A head kick misses from Severn.
Burgundy went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Severn tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Burgundy throws a big counter combination but Severn scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Burgundy misses the body punch
and Severn counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Burgundy tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
A nice side step and Severn releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Burgundy throws a big shot that misses.
Burgundy lands an overhand right.
Burgundy throws a jab when Severn was well out of range.
A low kick from Burgundy is predictable there
and Severn counters with a good low kick that Burgundy was not able to check.
Severn avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Burgundy wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Ron Burgundy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Burgundy ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Severn moves away.
Burgundy swings for the body but Severn moves out of range.
Burgundy throws a poor cross that misses
and Severn counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Severn throws a good cross that connects.
Burgundy is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Severn.
Severn goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Burgundy throws a leg kick but Severn sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Burgundy loads up on a big right hand but Severn slips the punch.
Burgundy rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and Severn counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Severn has Burgundy pressed against the cage.
Burgundy throws a punch but it's blocked by Severn.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Burgundy.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Severn pulls Burgundy into guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Severn is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Burgundy trying to control the position from guard on top but Severn is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Burgundy stays in close to Severn's body and controls the position.
Severn wants to stand and escape but Burgundy is having none of it.
Burgundy not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Burgundy throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Burgundy is looking to work some ground and pound but Severn has wrist control.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Burgundy is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Burgundy connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Burgundy swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Severn tries to counter with a clinch but Burgundy shakes him off and moves away.
Burgundy throws a lazy right hand but Severn sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Severn moves out of range as Burgundy strikes.
Severn goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Severn scores with a decent looking hook.
Severn misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Severn jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Severn slips a jab from Burgundy.
Burgundy misses with a lunging right hand
and Severn counters with a nice body kick.
Burgundy lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Severn moves out of range of the leg kick from Burgundy.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Severn uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Burgundy.
Severn lands a body shot.
Burgundy finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Severn swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Severn walks into a stiff left hand from Burgundy.


That has opened up Chris Severn's cut even more.
A low kick from Severn misses
and Burgundy counters with a straight that turns Severn's legs to rubber! Burgundy pushes forward with more strikes and Severn goes down, battered and bloody! That's a wrap folks!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ron Burgundy!
Ron Burgundy really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Spartan Nutrition logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
