The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Battle throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Battle lands with a right hand.
Vaughn uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Battle.
Dre Battle seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Battle connects with a good right hand that stumbles Vaughn. Vaughn circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
A looping hook to the body misses from Battle. Vaughn does a little dance to reset his feet.
Battle scores with a nice head shot.
Battle throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Vaughn sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Battle throws a poor cross that misses

and Vaughn decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Battle's guard.
Battle wants to get back to his feet but Vaughn passes into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Vaughn decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

Battle connects with a jab.
A slow jab from Battle misses its intended target.
Vaughn slips a jab from Battle.
Vaughn fails in his attempt to clinch.

Battle misses with a looping right.
Vaughn slips a jab from Battle.
Vaughn is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Battle.
Battle swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Vaughn slips under a jab.

and Vaughn counters with a left and a right that stings Battle.
Vaughn keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Battle.
Battle swings for the body but Vaughn moves out of range.
Dre Battle is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Vaughn fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Vaughn shoots in looking for a takedown. Battle tries to sprawl out of it but Vaughn keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Battle manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Battle lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Battle scores with a crisp jab that stopped Vaughn in his tracks.

Vaughn tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Battle wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Vaughn's closed guard. He's half up but Vaughn has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Vaughn pivots and extends the arm, Battle falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Vaughn! Well done that man!
