Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ryan Wheeler (ranked 7599 p4p, 459 weight class) and Pat Michaels (ranked 6429 p4p, 422 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ryan Wheeler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Pat Michaels!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Steven Brown and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wheeler doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Michaels counters with a big head kick but Wheeler shrugs it off.
Michaels misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Wheeler blocks a head kick by Michaels.
Michaels tries to close the distance and clinch up but Wheeler swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Michaels wants to clinch.
Wheeler throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Wheeler scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Wheeler misses with the combination.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Wheeler counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Michaels!
Michaels is looking for a sweep.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Wheeler is staying tight to Michaels's torso, preventing him from escaping.

We've been informed that Michaels has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Wheeler manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Michaels on his heels. He'll look to pass Michaels's guard now, I'm sure.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Wheeler drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Wheeler jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Michaels has his foot on Wheeler's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Wheeler works his way back into a safe position though.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Wheeler darts in looking for a takedown but Michaels gets double underhooks and turns Wheeler into the cage.
Wheeler doesn't manage to clinch there - Michaels circles away.
Michaels drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Wheeler defends it well.
Michaels fakes the leg kick and cracks Wheeler in the body.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Michaels wanted to stand there but Wheeler had control of the position.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Michaels is nestled in close to Wheeler, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Michaels connects with a nice short shot to Wheeler's temple.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Michaels lands a nice short elbow.
Wheeler flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Pat Michaels showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Wheeler closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Michaels's guard.

Wheeler is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Michaels has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Wheeler is looking to defend but Michaels has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Wheeler! Michaels pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Wheeler taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Pat Michaels!
Our winner, Pat Michaels, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
