Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Boyd Kayne (ranked 7405 p4p, 0 weight class) and Maykol Yurk (ranked 5299 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Boyd Kayne!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Maykol Yurk!
The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Bart Greer and Santiago Holmes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Yurk has Kayne up against the cage in a clinch.

Yurk ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Yurk no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Kayne wants to control from the top but Yurk keeps moving.
Kayne in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Kayne loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Yurk looking for a guillotine here but Kayne defends easily.
Yurk has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kayne works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Kayne tries to pass the half guard into mount. Yurk knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Yurk is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Kayne's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Kayne's back!

Yurk is trying to stick to Kayne's back but Kayne is turning into Yurk. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Yurk's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Kayne.

Kayne stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Yurk swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Yurk keeping moving, preventing Kayne from controlling successfully.
Yurk wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Yurk thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Kayne wants to control from the top but Yurk keeps moving.

Kayne is pushing down on Yurk's leg trying to pass to half guard. Yurk is fighting to maintain full guard but Kayne has managed to sneak the leg through.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Yurk shoots in and drives through. Kayne sprawls well.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Kayne has his takedown stuffed
and Yurk counters with a head kick. That will keep Kayne thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

Kayne tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Yurk closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Kayne did well to prevent Yurk getting side control.

Kayne seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Yurk does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Kayne is really struggling to control Yurk but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Yurk is trying hard to land a takedown here. Kayne sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

and Yurk makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Yurk tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Kayne wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Yurk is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Yurk is trying to stand.
Yurk moves into full guard.

Yurk had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Kayne defends it easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Yurk is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Yurk is adopting a defensive guard.
Kayne wants to control from the top but Yurk keeps moving.

Kayne has gone for a leg lock! Yurk slips out almost immediately though and dives into Kayne's guard.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Kayne wants to control the position but Yurk says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Maykol Yurk showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!



Kayne clinches up against the cage.

Yurk pulls guard effortlessly.
Kayne has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Yurk is proving hard to escape from.
Yurk has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kayne won't allow Yurk to sweep him here.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Yurk tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Kayne tries to close the distance and clinch up but Yurk swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Yurk shoots in but Kayne avoids the takedown attempt easily.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Kayne.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Kayne pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Yurk closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Yurk lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Kayne backwards.
Boyd Kayne has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Maykol Yurk is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Yurk avoiding damage as Kayne throws knees to the body.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Boyd Kayne.
Well Yurk has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
