PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Brandon Wazesky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bruno Rossini (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rossini has chosen Da Rockwilder as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Brandon Wazesky!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bruno Rossini!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wazesky lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

Wazesky closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Wazesky content to control rather than advance.
Wazesky passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Rossini!
Wazesky is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Wazesky throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Rossini tries to lock up and control but Wazesky gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rossini wants to try and get back to his feet.
Rossini wants to control but Wazesky is having none of it.

Wazesky has hold of Rossini's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Rossini manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Rossini manages to regain half guard. Good work.

Rossini is not content to let Wazesky control the position.
Wazesky thows a huge punch but Rossini dodges it nicely.
Wazesky drops an elbow to the side of Rossini's head.

Wazesky looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Wazesky is breathing heavily.
Wazesky is keen to just control but Rossini is a slippery customer.

Wazesky throws a strike but Rossini avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Wazesky postures up in Rossini's guard and throws a big left but Rossini blocks it.
Wazesky throws and elbow that misses. Rossini uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Wazesky's guard. Nice move by Rossini!

Rossini is nestled in close to Wazesky, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Rossini decides to stand up.
Rossini fails with an attempt to clinch.

and Wazesky counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Rossini pulls Wazesky in close to his closed guard and prevents Wazesky from doing any damage or advancing position.
Rossini bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Wazesky's guard.

Wazesky had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Rossini is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Wazesky Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Rossini's back instead.
Rossini manages to reverse the position and now he's in Wazesky's guard. Nice work there by Rossini.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rossini instigates a clinch.
Rossini is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Rossini wants to break free but Wazesky has control.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Wazesky takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Wazesky is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Rossini is keeping busy.
Wazesky stops a takedown attempt from Rossini.
Rossini tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Wazesky lands with a left to the head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wazesky jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Rossini walks away with a smile on his face. Wazesky gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Wazesky closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Wazesky lands in his opponent's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rossini wants to get back to his feet but Wazesky is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Wazesky is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Brandon Wazesky overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Rossini scores with a one two! Wazesky had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Wazesky shoots in and bounces Rossini off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Wazesky drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Wazesky drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Rossini dives on top into guard.
Wazesky wants to hit a switch here but Rossini passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Wazesky there!

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!



Wazesky fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Rossini, pushing him back against the cage.
Rossini tries to pull guard but Wazesky won't allow it.
Wazesky drops down looking for an ankle pick but Rossini pulls his leg out and moves away.
Wazesky shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Rossini counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Wazesky wants to sweep here but Rossini controlling him for the moment.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Wazesky is trying to hold Rossini in close to prevent damage but Rossini has managed to pass into half guard.

Rossini is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Wazesky doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Rossini.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Wazesky lands a jab.
Brandon Wazesky is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Wazesky throws a strike but Rossini avoids it easily and moves to full guard.

Rossini is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Wazesky drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Rossini dives on top into guard.

Rossini stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Wazesky swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Rossini wants to get up but he can't break Wazesky's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Well Wazesky has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
