The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Franks lands a body shot.
Franks wants to clinch up but Alves keeps it at a distance.

Franks keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Alves's efforts to push away.

Alves has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Franks uses from the top position.
Alves looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Alves bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Franks's guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Franks has an active guard here but Alves has managed to pass into half guard.

Franks kicks Alves off and gets back to his feet.

Alves not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
It looks like Alves might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Alves passes Franks's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Franks might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Alves cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Alves is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Franks can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

It looks like Ted Franks has been cut.
