Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Samual Marquez (ranked 6330 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fachru Reza (ranked 5671 p4p, 420 weight class). Fachru Reza will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Samual Marquez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Fachru Reza!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Hugh Johnson and Ben Hemmingworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Reza shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Marquez kicks off Reza and gets to his feet.

Marquez closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Marquez has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Reza after a bit of a struggle.

Marquez escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Marquez fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Reza tries to clinch but Marquez moves out of range.
Reza throws a series of punches but Marquez avoids them all with ease.
Marquez half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Reza shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Reza showed some decent athleticism there.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Marquez tries to roll over but Reza keeps him under control.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Marquez actively working from the bottom here.
Reza lands with a punch from half guard.
Marquez is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Reza wants to work for an arm triangle but Marquez is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Reza not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Marquez avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Reza.

Marquez has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Reza can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Marquez utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Reza in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Marquez escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Reza gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Marquez really is a fat lump.
Reza working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Marquez is breathing heavily.

Marquez working for a triangle but Reza defends it easily.

Reza gets to his feet - Marquez follows without any prompting.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Reza tries to clinch but Marquez moves out of range.

Reza clinches up with Marquez and pushes him back against the cage.
Reza is trying to break the clinch but Marquez is controlling him.

Marquez has hold of one of Reza's legs. Reza is fighting the takedown attempt but Marquez gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Marquez might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Reza looking to control.

Reza scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Reza throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Marquez was covering up waiting for the punch and Reza finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Marquez working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Reza.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Reza looking to pass the guard.
Marquez keeping moving, preventing Reza from controlling successfully.
Reza is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Reza throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Marquez looking for a guillotine here but Reza defends easily.
Reza must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Marquez avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Fachru Reza will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Reza darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Reza throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Marquez actively working from the bottom here.
Reza is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Marquez looking for submissions off his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Marquez is working on a guillotine. He's managed to get to full guard and he's really squeezing tight! Reza is tapping! Great win for Marquez!
