The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shang avoids the head kick by Java.
Java fails to land the takedown.
Java defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Shang.
Java swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Nice takedown defense from Java. No joy for Shang on that attempt.
Java lands a jab to the head.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rafael Shang. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Java moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Java will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Shang stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Shang wants it to stay on the feet.
Java misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Shang clinches up with Java and pushes him back against the cage.
Java drops down looking for an ankle pick but Shang pulls his leg out and moves away.

Java lands a left and a right that send Shang crashing to the mat, dazed. Java thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
