Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jay Kernes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Terrence Tate (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kernes comes to the cage accompanied by Reign Supreme - Persevere And Overcome. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jay Kernes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Terrence Tate!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Gwen Towbar and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tate circles away from the clinch attempt.
Tate lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Kernes circles away quickly and effectively.

Tate clinches up with Kernes and pushes him back against the cage.

It looks like Terrence Tate has been cut.
A bit of stalling here from Kernes.

Kernes's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Kernes tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Tate was well out of range. Poor timing from Kernes.

Tate drives through and clinches with Kernes against the cage.

Kernes breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Tate tries to keep at a distance but Kernes has taken the fight into the clinch.

Kernes throws a left and a right that both miss

and Tate counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Tate avoids a wild elbow strike from Kernes.
Kernes tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

It looks like Jay Kernes has been cut.
Tate avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Tate fails to land with a series of punches.
Kernes lands with a kick to the temple. Tate shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Kernes could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Horrible takedown by Tate or perhaps it was just good defense by Kernes which made him look bad.
Kernes throws a lazy right hand but Tate sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Tate will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Tate takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

Kernes throws a lazy head kick
and Tate counters with a good, hard body kick but Kernes shrugs it off.
Kernes fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Kernes is looking to clinch but Tate is avoiding it.

Kernes has Tate up against the cage in a clinch.
Kernes lands with a short shot to the head.
Kernes cracks Tate with a nice body shot.
Kernes lands a right hand that snaps the head of Tate backwards.

Kernes pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Kernes has closed the distance and engaged Tate in a clinch.
Kernes throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Tate blocks it with crossed arms.

Kernes is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Tate wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Kernes has him pressed against the cage.

Still in the clinch, Kernes scores with a nice short uppercut.

Kernes escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Kernes wants to clinch up but Tate keeps it at a distance.
Tate avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Kernes throws a right and a left that both miss.
Kernes throws a sloppy head kick and Tate moves out of range easily.
Tate thows a body shot but no joy.
Kernes stalks Tate and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Tate's face. Tate staggers backwards, shaken.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Kernes with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Tate misses with a punch on the inside.

Tate manages to break the clinch.
Tate closes the distance and clinches up with Kernes, looking for a takedown. Tate pushes Kernes against the cage but Kernes circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Terrence Tate dominated that round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Kernes takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Tate has knee on belly and moves into mount.

Tate moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Kernes has worked his arm free - good work by Kernes!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Kernes is trying to get back to his feet.

Tate tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Tate has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Tate tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Kernes is pushing Tate's head away, looking to escape. Tate manages to hold on to the position though.

Kernes keeps Tate under control for a moment.
Kernes is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Kernes turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Kernes looks to clinch
and Tate counters with a one-two to the body.
Kernes scores with a jab to the head.
Kernes cracks a nice hook into Tate's ribs.

Tate looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Kernes is fending him off so far but Tate persists. Nope, Kernes circles away and we're back to standing.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kernes is trying to maintain a safe position but Tate gets an underhook and turns Kernes into the cage.

Kernes gets to his feet - Tate follows without any prompting.
Tate scores with a kick to the body.

Kernes moves into the clinch.
Kernes goes for a takedown in the clinch but Tate prevents it.
Tate tries to pull guard but Kernes holds him up against the cage and eventually Tate drops back down to his feet.

and Tate counters by moving into the clinch.
Kernes is pressed up against the cage. Tate has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Kernes down to the mat. Kernes avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Kernes pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Kernes fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Tate.
A solid leg kick lands there for Kernes.
Tate circles away from the clinch attempt
and Tate counters with a series of strikes. Kernes will be more careful next time no doubt.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Tate, as that shot connected.

Kernes clinches with his opponent.

Kernes has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Tate clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Tate turns into Kernes and is now in his guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kernes is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Kernes moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Tate.
Tate sneaks back into half guard.
Tate is looking to control Kernes's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Tate avoid being mounted?

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kernes is looking to take a break and control but Tate is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Kernes stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Kernes throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Kernes tries to clinch there but Tate circles away.
Kernes misses with a head kick.
Kernes tries to close the distance and clinch up but Tate swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Kernes misses with a hook.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Tate.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jay Kernes showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Kernes has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
