The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sims forces Mcintyre back against the cage and clinches.

Sims pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Sims checks a leg kick.
Mcintyre displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Sims.

Sims drives through and clinches with Mcintyre against the cage.

Sims has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Mcintyre regains guard immediately.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mcintyre had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Sims defends it easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sims makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Mcintyre isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Sims stacks Mcintyre on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Sims!

Sims stands up and beckons Mcintyre to his feet.

and Mcintyre counters with a series of strikes. Sims will be more careful next time no doubt.

Sims clinches.

Sims gets control of Mcintyre's arms and successfully pulls guard. Sims will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Mcintyre working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Mcintyre prevents Sims from getting back to his feet.
Sims is trying to control the position but Mcintyre postures up.
Mcintyre really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Mcintyre tries to stand but Sims is controlling from the bottom.
Mcintyre has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Sims controls Mcintyre momentarily but Mcintyre frees himself.
Mcintyre is looking to stand up but Sims won't let him.
Sims pulls Mcintyre in close to prevent any damage.
Mcintyre has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Sims is proving hard to escape from.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Mcintyre fails with a takedown attempt.
Sims has a takedown stuffed.

Mcintyre looks to land a body kick but Sims moved away.
Sims is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
A jab from Sims misses.
Sims misses with a head kick.
Mcintyre tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Sims paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Sims looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Mcintyre wants to clinch.

Sims fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Mcintyre, pushing him back against the cage.

Sims manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Mcintyre trying to stand up but can't free himself from Sims's guard.
Sims looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Sims tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Mcintyre is looking to stand up but Sims won't let him.

Mcintyre gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Sims keeps the fight on the outside.
Sims with the counter takedown but Mcintyre avoids it easily.

Sims gets a clinch.

Sims works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sims closes the distance and clinches.

Sims throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

Sims uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Sims fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Sims goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Sims buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Sims shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Sims showed some decent athleticism there.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Mcintyre is looking to control Sims's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Mcintyre avoid being mounted?

Sims is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Sims not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Dwyane Sims has got the better of the ground game so far.
Sims is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Sims is trying to control. Mcintyre wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Sims is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Mcintyre is rocked!
Sims has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Oh Mcintyre is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Sims loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Mcintyre scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Sims land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Sims stands and salutes the crowd.
