Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Joca Carioca (ranked 2829 p4p, 244 weight class) and Steve Henley (ranked 3656 p4p, 290 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Carioca shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Henley manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Carioca stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Henley swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Henley working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Carioca doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Carioca manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Carioca thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Carioca wants to control from the top but Henley keeps moving.
Carioca is really struggling to control Henley but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Carioca drops back, looking for a kneebar! Henley looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Henley looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Henley!

Henley wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Carioca, who protects the arm well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Henley is looking to take a break and control but Carioca is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Carioca is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

Carioca is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Henley tries to score with some ground and pound. Carioca controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Carioca tries to get to full guard but Henley has control of the leg.
